Telford Tigers 2 Swindon Wildcats 11

Wildcats Tame Tigers on the Road

The Swindon Wildcats earned themselves an important 2 points in their weekend's efforts, after washing out the Telford Tigers 11-2 on the road.

After putting away the only goal in the first period through Egidijus Bauba, the 'Cats then went on to dominate the rest of the game to hit the double figure score.

Just seventeen seconds into the middle period and Josef Liska found the net, before forward Jonas Höög then scored a trademark goal, with some quick thinking stick work. Two minutes on and the line featuring Bauba then scored once again, with the forward himself picking up his second of the night.

As the game hit the half way point, Telford took their chances on two opportunities to grab a pair back, only to see Swindon then make it 6-2 through captain Lee Richardson. Moments later and James Knight then set up player/coach Ryan Aldridge for his first as the home team closed out the period with a substantial 7-2 lead.

The final period saw no change to the away side letting up and with a chance on net, Egidijus Bauba then collected his hat trick on Swindon's eighth goal with Knight then grabbing a piece of the limelight to make it ten.

To close out the game, Bauba would then grab the final goal for Swindon, not only making it eleven for his side but to also to add his tally for a fourth of the evening.

After suffering a hard to swallow overtime loss the previous night, this game was exactly what the Wildcats needed to bounce back and show what the team are capable of. It also means that come the end of the Wildcats weekend, only a point was dropped and now see's Swindon extend the gap to seven points away from the teams below them.

What can be looked as a successful weekend was ultimately ended well with tonight's game going down the Wildcat's biggest win of the season so far.
Final Score: Telford Tigers 2 - 11 Swindon Wildcats
Man of the Match: Tel - / SWI - Bauba

Swindon Wildcats 3 Peterborough Phantoms 4

The Cats narrowly missed out to the Phantoms in an exciting fixture on Saturday night.

It was a goal-less first-period with not much action from either side, however with in the first minute of the second-period Liska opened the score line for the Cats giving them the lead.

Ex-Swindon player Matty Davies then netted for the Phantoms midway through the 2nd to tie the score. Captain Lee Richardson put the homeside in the lead once again with just 4 minutes remaining after tapping in a shot from Head coach Ryan Aldridge.

The Cats efforts were quickly dashed as 2 quick goals from the Phantoms saw them into the final period with a 3-2 lead. The final period saw a goal from Aldridge just 4 minutes in and with neither side making the most of their opportunities the game was sent into overtime!

Overtime was quickly wrapped up by the Phantoms when Ziedins netted a goal with a slap shot from the blue line in just 25 seconds.
